Dr. Howard A. Rubin is a Professor Emeritus of the City University of New York, a MIT CISR Research Affiliate, a Gartner Senior Advisor, and founder of Rubin Systems/Rubin Worldwide.
Dr. Rubin holds a Ph.D. in Biology and Computer Science (with a specialization in marine ecology) awarded by the City University of NY.
He has been actively involved with Riverkeeper since 1995 and has been a member of its Board of Directors and most recently was Treasurer. He has also been a member of the Clinton Global Initiative, an active contributor to the Rainforest Foundation, an Advisory Board member of the International AIDS Trust, and a leadership contributor and sponsor of the Tribeca Film Institute.
In the Hudson Valley Dr. Rubin became a member of the Pound Ridge Water Control Commission in 1978 shortly after it was created to enact New York State’s first wetland’s protection laws. Dr. Rubin was also Chair of the commission in more recent years.
Both academically and as a practitioner Dr. Rubin is internationally recognized for his work in technology economics as an author, researcher, talented speaker, and consultant. Earlier in his career Industry Week named Dr. Rubin as “one of the nation’s Top R&D stars to watch”. He has also worked directly with heads of state around the world in the development of national competitive technology strategies for Canada, India, the Philippines, South Africa, and most recently in the United States with former President Clinton.
