Ever since our founding in 1966 by a blue-collar association of commercial and recreational fishermen, Riverkeeper has supported increased use of the Hudson River for appropriate recreational, scientific, aesthetic, and commercial purposes. So that future generations may enjoy a vital waterway for years to come, our Clean Boating and Sustainable Fishing campaign strives to protect the Hudson from being “loved to death” by boaters, fishermen, and other river users.

On October 9, 2003, Riverkeeper and EPA Announced an End to Boat Sewage Discharges into the estuarine Hudson
