Riverkeeper has arrived at a defining moment in its uncompromising six-year battle to retire the Indian Point nuclear power plant. For the final phase of its fight to close Indian Point, Riverkeeper has assembled an impressive team of experienced and innovative attorneys and experts to intervene in the relicensing proceeding. The legal team is led by Diane Curran, a highly regarded attorney with 20 years of experience representing state government and community groups before the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on matters related to nuclear safety and security. Ms. Curran, working with Riverkeeper attorneys Phillip Musegaas and Victor Tafur, will be relying on some of the foremost authorities on nuclear engineering, safety, security, and the environmental impacts caused by nuclear facilities.
Riverkeeper is joined by several petitioners, including New York State - represented by the Office of the Attorney General and the Department of Environmental Conservation. This intervention to oppose a 20-year license extension of a nuclear power plant is the first in the nation.
Join Riverkeeper in fighting another twenty years!
