Riverkeeper, Greenpoint Manufacturing Design Center and Newtown Creek Alliance were awarded a $625k grant from the NY Dept. of State to conduct a detailed, community-driven study of contamination in and around Newtown Creek in Queens and Brooklyn. The “Brownfields Opportunity Area” program grant from the NY State Department of State funds will be used to create a vision for the future of this once-neglected waterway based on input from residents, businesses, and government officials.
