A strong community cares about water quality and local government decisions that affect water quality. Riverkeeper works with a coalition of over 60 civic and environmental groups. We provide these groups and other watershed citizens with strategic guidance and access to information. Educating watershed citizens allows us to be more effective at protecting the water supply and building strong communities. To educate and assist citizens and other groups, Riverkeeper’s watershed team hosts informational workshops, maintains a continuous flow of communication, provides sample comment letters, attends citizen meetings, and speaks at various conferences and symposia.
We are in the process of developing a citizen toolbox that will contain all the necessary information for participating in the environmental review of development projects. The first few elements of the toolbox are up and running; more information will be added soon.
