Haverstraw Waterfront Development

Westchester developer Martin Ginsberg, in conjunction with the Village of Haverstraw, has proposed a massive redevelopment of the Village’s downtown waterfront area. The project would involve the redevelopment of approximately 859 residences and some commercial and recreational facilities on 36 acres of largely abandoned industrial land, in three phases over a ten-year period. Riverkeeper submitted technical comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement relating to the potential for restoration of some of the riparian zone along the Hudson. As with any waterfront redevelopment project, we are concerned with the impact on existing River access and about the potential for enhanced access.
