Protecting Wetlands in Cornwall

On July 2, 2003 Riverkeeper served formal notice of our intent to sue a developer, Cornwall Commons LLC, if it attempts to dredge and fill a two-acre wetland and intermittent stream connected to Moodna Creek without a permit, as it intends. New York State is rapidly losing its wetlands – which provide important habitat, filter pollutants, and control floods – to development. If necessary, we will seek a court order to protect the wetland.
