The Atomic Safety and Licensing Board will hold its hearing about the relicensing of the Indian Point nuclear power plant at the DoubleTree Hotel in Tarrytown.
Administrative judges will speak with experts representing groups who have raised concerns about the plant’s relicensing. Riverkeeper and Clearwater have filed several contentions about the relicensing and will present our evidence and arguments before the judges.
Entergy Nuclear, the owner of the plant in Buchanan, wants to extend the licenses for its two reactors for 20 years. The licenses are to expire in 2013 and 2015. The judges will pass recommendations to the NRC.
The hearing is open to the public for observation only and portions may be closed if proprietary information is raised by some parties.
The scheduled dates are as follows: Oct. 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23 and 24, and Dec. 10-14, as needed. The hearing will start at 1 p.m. on Oct. 15 and the start time for each following day will be announced during the previous day’s gathering.
The hotel is at 455 South Broadway.
