Poster---Candlelight-for-a-Cleaner-Hudson-EngcroppedThe Cities of Newburgh and Beacon are planning a candlelight vigil called Candles for a Cleaner Hudson for July 23. Below are the details for the times of the event in Newburgh:

Federal agencies have made it clear the leftover toxic sediments will pose significant health and economic risks for generations if they’re not removed now. Join us on July 23 to celebrate our towns’ most treasured natural and economic resource—the Hudson River—and conduct a candlelight vigil for its full recovery from PCB pollution. Residents of Coeymans will gather with citizens from other waterfront communities for a stunning display showing the world we haven’t forgotten our river.

7:00 p.m. Newburgh arrival time
7:30 p.m. Candles are handed out
7:45 p.m. Master of ceremonies makes announcement and begins candle lighting
8:00 p.m. Closing

Campaign for a Cleaner Hudson will have a citizen action table with petitions and more info on Hudson River PCBs (including Dept. of Health literature on fishing in the Hudson).
