Take a 3D virtual tour of the habitat-rich Hudson from start to finish, a journey to understand the unique physical characteristics and creatures of the ‘river that flows both ways.’ Hudson Highlands Nature Museum Environmental Educator Carl Heitmuller will captain this tour with help from Beacon Institute’s virtual watershed exhibit.

Beginning at Lake Tear of the Clouds on Mt. Marcy (Hudson River headwaters), Carl will make his way to the Atlantic Ocean, exploring the many needs, niches and incredible diversity of Hudson River animals and their habitats. By sculpting the sand of the 3D watershed and with interactive role-playing activities, the audience will learn about many natural functions of the Hudson River:

Estuary and watershed
Tide and salt front
Currents, turbidity and dissolved oxygen
Food chains
Habitat and niche
