A Fracking Victory, But the Fight for a Permanent Ban Continues

Last night the NY State Senate passed a bill that places a moratorium on fracking in the Marcellus Shale in New York.

This is an important victory that was possible because of ALL OF YOU stood up and said DON’T FRACK WITH NY WATER. This bill was DOA until you rallied, wrote and called. We now need the Assembly to pass the bill and then Governor Paterson to sign it.

This is a great victory, but it’s only a brief reprieve from fracking. That’s time for the next Governor to do the right thing and more time for science to catch up with fracking. Use this moment and our momentum to keep the pressure on Andrew Cuomo to support a permanent ban on fracking in our watersheds.

Please urge everyone you know to SIGN THE PETITION and keep informed by joining the Frack campaign on Facebook
