Enterococcus (“Entero”) is a fecal indicating bacterium that lives in the intestines of humans and other warm-blooded animals. It is the EPA preferred indicator for sewage contamination.

About this location:

This is the first sampling site located downstream of the channelized former industrial area at the outskirts of downtown Yonkers. This site was sampled by Groundwork Hudson Valley in its 2008-2012 study.
