Defend the Hudson:
Elizabeth Suda, Founder and Creative Director, Article22
Elizabeth Suda’s desire to create a social business that supports women through craft started when she volunteered with a woman-led textile business and consulted for Swiss NGO, Helvetas. Recognizing that market linkage and design are major constraints on artisans, she founded ARTICLE 22 to create a traceable link between producers in the East and consumers in the West… and to tell their stories. Inspired as much by contemporary art as by authentic know-how, Elizabeth is at the head of the design ateliers in Vientiane and New York. She aims at redefining the codes of luxury throughout this precious adventure. Under Elizabeth’s leadership, ARTICLE 22 has been recognized by global consumers and press as pioneering the transformation of weapons to jewelry. ARTICLE 22 has been featured by Al Jazeera, ZDF German TV, France’s TV5Monde, the LATimes, Dwell, Glamour, and tweeted by model Angela Lindvall and actress Olivia Wilde.
