Video: Bomb train along the Mohawk River

The threat of disaster from oil trains is everywhere. The Mohawk, Lake Champlain, the Hudson River. It’s just a matter of time.

Our friend John Garver posted this video Sunday of an oil train passing the confluence of the Schoharie and Mohawk rivers at Fort Hunter, N.Y.

Riverkeeper continues to press for immediate action to protect our waterways and communities. As the Times Herald-Record said in an editorial Saturday:

“So far, the best the federal bureaucrats can do is claim that they are sympathetic and working on a ‘comprehensive approach.’

“So it appears that we can expect more derailments with more damage to the environment, or worse, until those in Washington realize that these are not false alarms being sounded along the tracks and that action is long overdue….”
