In this video interview with The Journal News, Riverkeeper President Paul Gallay and Hudson River Program Director Phillip Musegaas detail the many reasons why Indian Point – de facto nuclear waste dump on the Hudson – should be shut down.
“Whatever you may think of Indian Point over the last 40 years, this plant wasn’t designed to go beyond the 40 years of licensing that it has had,” Gallay says. “The reality is, there isn’t enough money to spend on these plants to make them safe.”
“It’s a Cold War era facility that presents real risks to the public living in this area, causes significant environmental harm to the Hudson River, and that we don’t need to generate power in this area any longer,” says Musegaas.
