Riverkeeper has filed an amici brief in this case on behalf of itself, Scenic Hudson and Clearwater in support of the NY Department of State’s position that the proposed license renewal of the Indian Point nuclear power plants is not exempt from the New York State coastal consistency review process. If the State prevails, it could help determine whether the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be able to issue a 20-year licensing extension for the Indian Point Unit 2 and 3 reactors (both reactors are currently operating on expired licenses while NRC continues to process their re-licensing applications).
