New Yorkers Will Call Out Ares Management, the Private Equity Backer of the controversial NY/NJ Oil Pipeline proposal, which is an accident waiting to happen and whose oil, if burned, would produce as much climate pollution than all of New York City
WHO: New York Communities for Change, Food & Water Watch, Sierra Club – Atlantic Chapter, 350 Brooklyn and Catskill Mountainkeeper and other activists.
WHAT: On Tuesday, activists will gather at the Finance US Power Conference to condemn Private Equity firm Ares Management’s and their billionaire CEO Tony Ressler’s role in financing the controversial Pilgrim Pipeline, which will transport 400,000 Barrels of Oil Per-Day thru New York and New Jersey.
NY residents and Activists will highlight the threat the pipeline would represent for New York’s and New Jersey’s communities, as well as drinking water. The project would also worsen climate change, as the carbon impact of burning the oil that would flow through the pipeline is so large that it would be roughly equal to the carbon footprint of New York City.
WHEN: Tuesday, October 25. Meet at 1:45 outside the Hotel. Ares’ Vice President will be speaking at the conference at 2pm. Bring a Sign!
