The Iron TriangleJoin The Guardians of Flushing Bay, Riverkeeper, and SingleCut for a special free virtual documentary screening of, The Iron Triangle: Willets Point and the Remaking of New York and post-film discussion about Queens’ Willets Point and related local organizing efforts in the Flushing Bay watershed. The film focuses on the 2013 grassroots organizing efforts by business owners in Queens’ Willets Point, a neighborhood that borders Flushing Bay and Creek and has been marked for lucrative redevelopment on and off over the last decade. The story of Willets Point mirrors the ongoing land-use fights in our watershed, where working class residents fight against urban renewal-style planning.

The screening will kick off with a tasting and toast of two of SingleCut’s beers, Softly Spoken Magic Spells and Weird & Gilly DDH IPA facilitated by General Manager, Dan Bronson. Softly Spoken Magic Spells (ABV: 8.6%) takes you far away across the field to a golden IPA with tropical bright citrus, mild pine and smooth and soft lightly sweet malt that will take you home home again. Weird & Gilly DDH IPA comes from an idea from some cat in Japan suggesting an IPA that is J-U-I-C-Y. SingleCut packed up a pack horse and made it happen! The beer is soft doughy with slightly tangy malt under bright citrus, round tropical fruit and mild pine resin hop aromatics that underscore the waves of flavors to come.
