This three-day intensive course is designed to teach municipal officials, members of environmental commissions, planners, and land trust staff about ways to identify and proactively conserve important natural areas. Through indoor and outdoor sessions, participants will learn how to interpret maps and aerial photos to predict the locations of important habitat and water features, confirm those predictions by field observations, review site plans, and subdivision plans, and apply conservation principles in reviews of land use proposals to achieve more ecologically sound outcomes for land development.
This year the course is located in Voorheesville (Albany County). The course will be taught by Hudsonia and Hudson River Estuary Program staff. Lunch and other refreshments provided each day. Apply by September 11th at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TG6NLDD, or contact Lea Stickle at [email protected] for an application that can be submitted by email, groundmail, or fax. This is a competitive application and space is limited.
