Riverkeeper SweepThanks to our Sweep Leaders, volunteers, partners, and sponsors, our 10th Riverkeeper Sweep was our biggest yet! On Saturday, May 1, 2021, over 2,600 volunteers came together to cleanup 29 tons of debris. For a comprehensive overview of our 10th Sweep, read our blog post, 10th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep – Our Biggest Yet. To take a deep dive into our Sweep data and comprehensive data collection project in our other recent blog, What’s in our river? Sweep volunteers examine Hudson River plastic pollution.

Please save Saturday, May 7, 2022 for the 11th Riverkeeper Sweep! Check back later this year for more information about next year’s volunteer and sponsorship opportunities.

Sweep 2021

We welcome you to take part in the 11th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep, our annual day of service for the Hudson River and its tributaries by joining a shoreline cleanup or tree planting project at a location near you. Over the last ten years, Riverkeeper volunteers have completed 951 projects along hundreds of miles of shoreline during our annual day of service for the Hudson, where volunteers have removed 305 tons of debris, and planted or maintained 4,655 trees or native grasses.

Join us at one of 125 project sites along the Hudson River and tributaries for cleanups, invasive species removal, and planting projects. Find a project near you to participate (check back in the spring for the full list of sites and links to register). Pre-registration is required.

If you are interested in sponsoring the 2022 Riverkeeper Sweep, please e-mail Katie Leung [email protected] for more information.

  • Volunteers should carpool only with members of their own household.
  • Volunteers should not participate if they have ANY signs of illness or if they have potentially been exposed to COVID-19 within the previous two weeks.
