Common Council meeting will be held in the Council Chambers, City Hall 2nd Floor. Caucus begins at 6:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor court room.

What: The Common Council currently has a vote scheduled, although it could be postponed. Regardless, they need to hear from you and see you before and on Monday!

Why do we need the citizens of the City of Albany to Act?
The City of Albany is both the beginning and terminus of the Pilgrim oil Pipelines project. The City of Albany could see a greater volume of crude oil trains to supply the pipeline and is at risk of an oil spill on a Hudson River that is finally beginning to heal from 50 years of damage.

23 cities, villages and towns in New York have already passed resolutions in opposition to the project, including the City of Newburgh and the City of Kingston. The City of Albany is the largest city in New York in the path of this project and therefore has tremendous weight in deciding the fate of this ill-conceived project.

We potentially face a close vote on the Common Council, potentially 2 vote short of passing a resolution in opposition to the pipelines.

Please call, write ahead of time and show up on Monday to urge your Common Council Members to take a courageous stand against the Pilgrim oil Pipelines, standing with their fellow municipalities across the Hudson Valley.

Please find this toolkit as a resource for contacting your Common Council Members and preparing for the Common Council Meeting on Monday, May 16, where a vote will be held on whether or not the City of Albany will formally oppose this dangerous project.

Wait, but what is the Pilgrim Pipelines Project? How can I learn more?
