Hudson River Stories

Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville presents a screening of two Hudson River Stories from the acclaimed environmental filmmaker, writer, and activist Jon Bowermaster, including the short documentary “One Dam at a Time,” featuring Riverkeeper’s efforts to remove obsolete dams and restore free-flowing creeks in the Hudson Valley.

By removing dams that no longer serve a purpose, we can reopen vital spawning grounds, revive the web of life, and allow nature to heal and flourish. The 22-minute film takes you to Quassaick Creek in Newburgh, Furnace Brook in Westchester, and Wynants Kill in Troy, as these streams begin to be transformed.

The event begins with a screening of Bowermaster’s 40-minute film “Windshipped,” about the sail-freight Schooner Apollonia.

Join us for the screening and stay for a Q&A with the filmmaker.
