SeaChange: We All Live Downstream: IS A PARTICIPATORY VOYAGE DOWN THE HUDSON RIVER IN SMALL BOATS MADE OF PAPER – INITIATED BY BROOKLYN-BASED BOATBUILDING COLLECTIVE MARE LIBERUM AND GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE ACTIVISTS 350.ORG.

Riverkeeper’s Dan Shapley will greet the flotilla and friends at the Ossining Boat and Canoe Club (OBCC) Ossining Waterfront to deliver a short talk about our water quality program and the threat of crude oil transport down the Hudson. Introductory remarks will be made by Pamela Boyce Simms of Mid-Atlantic Transition Hub. Please join us for this unique and exciting event. Bring your “brown bag” dinner or pick up a picnic basket from AJ’s Fish Fry on Main Street to enjoy at 6:30.

    Schedule

4:00 – Arrival of the “Paper Boat Flotilla” at OBCC- come on down early if you want!
6:30 – Picnic on the Patio (Bring a “brown bag” dinner or pick up your Fish Fry basket from AJ’s on Main Street)
7:00 – 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony with the Village and Town of Ossining and the Village of Briarcliff Manor
7:30 – OBCC Upper Level: 30 minute “How’s the Water?” presentation by Dan Shapley of Riverkeeper and a 30 minute presentation by Paul Sargent of the Artificial Corridors Project
8:30 – Sea Chanties/sing-alongs

The flotilla is in conjuction with the People’s Climate March taking place September 21st in Manhattan (learn more here). Riverkeeper and the Waterkeeper Alliance are coming out in force and want you to join us. To join the crew of Waterkeepers from around the world fill out our RSVP.

Phase III: Climate Convergence

September 14: Circumnavigation of the island of Manhattan. Leaving from North Brooklyn Boat Club. Meet at 1:30 PM.

September 17, 18, 19: Office Hours and roundtable discussions on art and climate at the Floating Library (a project by artist Beatrice Glow) hosted by the Lilac Steamship Preservation Project.

September 20th: People’s Climate Boat Bloc, Assembly on East River.

September 21st: People’s Climate March!

September 23rd: UN Climate Summit
