As part of the new Wallkill River Watershed Alliance, a group will paddle the river both to enjoy it and identify any concerns.

This boat brigade is organized by Brenda Bowers and Arthur Cemelli. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Ms. Bowers at [email protected].

Bring your own boat. New Paltz Kayak Tours will make kayaks available for some boat brigades, subject to availability. Call Craig Chapman of New Paltz Kayaking to inquire at 845-594-6353.

Please bring a small notebook and pen, a phone with GPS and camera if you feel comfortable (recognizing that you will be on the water, and are responsible for your own property). Participants will work in pairs to monitor and record what we find along the paddle. Also wear footwear that allows portage in shallow water.

This Boat Brigade will depart from Popp Memorial Park in the hamlet of Wallkill (Town of Shawangunk) on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m.

Riverkeeper is supporting the effort by providing stream walk resources and other tips to help the effort be productive. Find reports of past boat brigades on the Boat Blog.
