Join Riverkeeper for the first of our brand new webinar series on Riverkeeper’s work to protect and restore the Hudson River.
On Tuesday, January 9, Staff Attorney Victoria Leung and Legal Consultant Richard Webster will lead a presentation on the latest in the decommissioning of the Indian Point nuclear power plant. We’ll celebrate the recent passage of the “Save the Hudson” legislation, which makes it illegal to discharge radioactive wastewater into the Hudson River from Indian Point.
Following the bill’s unanimous bipartisan passage in the Senate and the Assembly and a groundswell of public support, Governor Hochul’s signature reinforces Riverkeeper and the community’s conviction that the river can no longer serve as a dumping ground. With ongoing interest in the progress of the decommissioning process – most pressingly, radioactive contamination of the groundwater surrounding the plant – learn what this means for the welfare of the Hudson River and what Riverkeeper aims to achieve following the legislation’s historic passage.
