NRC Commissioner Magwood to Join Riverkeeper on Indian Point Boat Patrol

William D. Magwood, IV, one of the five members of the presidentially appointed Commission that oversees the NRC, will join Riverkeeper on May 29 aboard its patrol boat for a view of Indian Point from the perspective of the Hudson River. This will mark the first time an NRC staff member has joined Riverkeeper on a boat patrol.

This outing will focus on issues of general concern to Riverkeeper such as:

  • Indian Point’s lack of compliance with fire safety standards
  • Emergency evacuation planning
  • Security
  • The NRC’s response to Fukushima

The patrol will not include any discussion about issues related to the ongoing relicensing litigation.

Commissioner Magwood will also participate in a tour of the Indian Point Nuclear Generating Units 2 and 3 the same day.
