Entero Count

Enterococcus (“Entero”) is a fecal indicating bacterium that lives in the intestines of humans and other warm-blooded animals. It is the EPA preferred indicator for sewage contamination.

About this location:

This site is located about six miles downstream of the headwaters of the Roe Jan Kill. Between the stream's source and this site, much of the riparian area is cleared for agricultural use, and there is a festival grounds upstream of the site.
