Larissa Liebmann

Larissa Liebmann joined Riverkeeper's Legal Program in May 2025.
Larissa is an experienced environmental attorney with a commitment to protecting waterways and challenging the harms of industrial pollution.
Larissa grew up in the Hudson Valley, and her first undergraduate internship was with Riverkeeper. That summer sparked her deep appreciation for the Hudson River and cemented her decision to pursue a career in environmental law. A lifelong enthusiast for all things aquatic, Larissa was also drawn to Riverkeeper’s model of advocacy and its emphasis on fostering and protecting community connections with waterways.
After earning her J.D. in 2013 from American University’s Washington College of Law, Larissa joined Potomac Riverkeeper as a legal fellow. She then spent five years working as a Staff Attorney at Waterkeeper Alliance, where she combated the water impacts of fossil fuel extraction, transport, and use alongside Waterkeepers across the country. Most recently, Larissa served as a litigator with the Animal Legal Defense Fund, where she focused on the environmental impacts of industrial animal agriculture. In that role, she challenged federal agency decisions and developed litigation targeting environmental noncompliance.
Larissa lives in New York City with her husband, daughter, dog, cat, and an ever-growing jungle of houseplants.
