Richard Pero
Richard Pero is a seasoned legal, strategic, and investment advisor with more than 25 years of experience advising and leading businesses across the insurance, investment management, technology and financial services sectors. He is the Founding Attorney of RIPE Law, where he advises public and private companies, asset managers and venture-backed companies on complex transactional, regulatory, corporate governance and strategic matters.
His experience spans mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, structured finance, venture capital, fund formation, and insurance-related regulation, with particular depth in insurtech, fintech, and alternative capital structures. Richard has advised on multi-billion-dollar cross-border transactions, corporate and portfolio restructurings, and private equity/venture capital investments. He also has extensive regulatory and compliance expertise under U.S. securities and investment advisory laws, as well as U.S./offshore insurance and tax regimes.
Richard has held senior executive and governance roles at AXA XL and AIG. In these roles, he oversaw investment strategy, capital deployment, and portfolio company governance, and served as a director and strategic advisor to multiple early-stage and growth-stage company boards.
Richard also has a strong commitment to pro-bono work. He founded the Pro Bono Practice Group at AXA XL and has served as pro bono counsel on a number of immigration law matters with My Sisters’ Place in Westchester County, NY.
Richard began his legal career at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and Morrison & Foerster LLP, and previously worked in investment banking at UBS. He holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Connecticut.
