Passing Indian Point this morning at 0800 – no sheen or odor observed. We patrolled the same areas we visited and documented on Sunday morning after the transformer explosion and spill at the nuclear plant.
There was a strong southwest wind yesterday veering to northwest overnight, continuing from the northwest today. It’s likely that this extended period of wind has swept any transformer oil or firefighting foam on the River to the eastern shoreline.
At the northwest corner of Peekskill Bay we did see a smooth water streak which is common when there is oil or some other surfactant present. It was in line with the east shore from Bear Mountain to Peekskill where we had numerous reports of sheen yesterday (Tuesday). But there was still no sheen or odor present.
