Riverkeeper’s patrol boat is undergoing ongoing winter restoration and maintenance at our home port, Westerly Marina in Ossining. We are re-planking the bottom in sections, season by season. This weekend, boatbuilder Chris Brennan was steaming the port chine plank – the lowest plank on the side of the hull, where it meets the bottom. Steaming the white oak plank allows it to bend, take on a new shape and fit more comfortably into place on the boat.
