“When I was young we’d go to Deep Hole on Towpath. I’m grateful to Riverkeeper for the help in trying to make our water clean again. Being able to swim is part of what makes this area great.” Laura Finestone, Chair of the Rochester Environmental Conservation Commission, used a watershed model to teach kids about protecting water quality at the Ashokan Center’s Summer Hoot Festival. The ECC has partnered with Riverkeeper to sample Rondout Creek for four seasons.

Rondout Creek is one of eight tributaries and two waterfronts that is being sampled with the support of citizen partners. Interested in learning more about our findings? Check out our Citizen Testing Data or read our recent water quality report, “How’s the Water? 2015.”
