Call Cuomo: sign legislation to protect NY streams

protect NY streamsWe just learned that a key bill was delivered to Governor Cuomo’s desk and that he must decide on it by November 30th. Recently, we asked you to speak up for clean water, and thousands of you did — thank you! Now, we need to keep raising the volume by calling the Governor to make sure that the bipartisan legislation granting protections to 41,000 miles of streams across New York, including nearly 9,000 miles in the Hudson River watershed becomes law!

This bill, A8349, is crucial to protecting New York’s streams in the face of the rollback of clean water protections at the federal level. Over 11 million New Yorkers depend on public water systems that rely on small streams to supply clean drinking water. This bill will ensure New York State limits the damage to New York’s clean drinking water.

Urge Governor Andrew Cuomo to sign this bill granting protections for thousands of miles of New York’s streams.

Take Action: Call 518-474-8390 to urge Governor Cuomo to sign legislation to protect NYs streams! When prompted press 2 then when prompted again press 2 a second time to speak with a representative.

Here’s a sample script:

“I am calling today to urge Governor Cuomo to sign A8349 to protect 41,000 miles of Class C streams in New York. With the Trump administration’s rollbacks of clean water protections, it is vital that New York do everything in its power to defend clean water.”
