Many New Yorkers have rediscovered their local waterways in recent years, yet many others still go about their daily business not giving much thought as to how the Big Apple is shaped by its waterways. As Riverkeeper’s Boat Captain, John Lipscomb says, “the city owes its existence and its wealth to the fact that it’s on this river and part of this harbor.”
