At Indian Point nuclear plant, how many more accidents will it take?

Last weekend’s transformer fire and resulting oil spill are the latest wakeup call about the multitude of unacceptable dangers at the Indian Point nuclear plant.

We spoke with Andrew Whitman on Fios1 “NewsBreakers” about the spill and the bigger picture.

If you have a plant this dangerous, with no evacuation plan, with all these fire safety exemptions, with all these mismatched transformers blowing up, nowhere to put the spent fuel, you have to ask yourself: Even if it’s $20 a year extra (in energy bills), is it worth it? The fact of the matter is, Indian Point is not safe. And our safety and our family means everything.
