Riverkeeper pushes for better community flood protections

Riverkeeper is urging the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to improve its proposal to protect communities in New York City from the growing risks posed by flooding.
These plans must include nature-based, community-driven solutions to protect communities from flood risks, as well as projects that restore shorelines, improve water quality, and expand public access to waterfront areas. With climate threats rising, New York City deserves flood protection plans that safeguard people and the environment.
Riverkeeper will keep pushing to ensure that flood mitigation and protection projects not only address flooding impacts from coastal storms and increased rainfall, but also help build healthier, more resilient communities for generations to come.
