Tell Assembly and Senate Leadership to Take Action on a Fracking Moratorium Now!

June 2, 2014

Riverkeeper Team
With only three weeks remaining in this year’s legislative session, time is running out for the New York Legislature to take action on fracking in 2014.
Unfortunately, New Yorkers have seen this show before. Help us carry the message that this year must be different:
Legislators must act to pass a fracking moratorium before heading home in June.
An official fracking moratorium will allow New York to wait for the science on fracking’s health impacts before any decision is made on whether to allow the practice within our borders. While fracking remains on hold pending completion of a Department of Health review, the review has no timetable, meaning that a decision to allow fracking in New York could come at any time. If that happens after the legislature has left town, they will have lost the opportunity to act.
Call today and tell Assembly and Senate leadership – Speaker Silver, Senator Klein, and Senator Skelos – to act before they go home. Ask them to immediately schedule a vote and urge their members to pass a fracking moratorium.
Speaker Silver: 518-455-3791
Senator Klein: 518-455-3595
Senator Skelos: 518-455-3171
