Become a Citizen Scientist
Would you like to collect samples in your tributary this summer as part of Riverkeeper’s water quality monitoring program? Riverkeeper tests for Enterococcus, an indicator of fecal contamination, in partnership with community scientists in the Catskill, Esopus, Rondout, Wallkill, Pocantico and Sparkill watersheds. Samplers commit to collecting water at one or more fixed locations and delivering the sample to the Riverkeeper vessel. We provide training and sampling equipment. We test the water once monthly from May to October; specific dates and times vary by watershed. We also support sampling groups in the Quassaick watershed and the New York City waterfront.
