Riverkeeper responds to Trump announcement on Paris climate accords

In response to today’s announcement by President Trump, Riverkeeper President Paul Gallay said:

“President Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris climate accords makes the U.S. one of the few countries on Earth to altogether dismiss the need for aggressive action on climate change. While the withdrawal has global implications, it will hit us especially hard here at home. New York’s thousands of miles of coastline are already threatened by sea level rise, and the safety of the drinking water for more than 9 million New Yorkers will be compromised by bigger storms associated with climate change. Riverkeeper will now redouble its efforts to promote shoreline resilience and drinking water safety in the wake of this dreadful decision on the Paris Accords.”
