Riverkeeper to honor DEC’s Fran Dunwell and Dr. David Carpenter on June 8

At its annual Summer Splash gala at Boscobel House and Gardens in Garrison, N.Y., Riverkeeper will celebrate two Hudson River champions

Riverkeeper will celebrate and honor the work of Fran Dunwell, recently retired coordinator of the New York State Hudson River Estuary Program, and Dr. David Carpenter, PCBs expert and Director of the Institute for Health and the Environment at the University at Albany – SUNY, during the organization’s 2nd Annual Summer Splash gala at Boscobel House and Gardens in Garrison.

Dunwell, who retired in August last year, will receive Riverkeeper’s 2023 “Big Fish” Award in recognition of her decades fighting for the Hudson River as the founder and coordinator of the DEC estuary program. Read more about her work >

Carpenter will receive the “Hudson Hero” award for his work highlighting health risks from environmental contaminants in New York State, including PCBs in the Hudson and related dumping sites. Read more about his work >
