DEC pulls plug on millennium pipeline project

BREAKING: The DEC has pulled the plug on the Millennium Pipeline Valley Lateral Project, a pipeline that would pump fracked gas from Pennsylvania to the CPV natural gas power plant under construction in Wawayanda. The DEC denied a Water Quality Certification pursuant to section 401 of the Clean Water Act, stating that the feds did not fully assess climate impacts, as required by a DC Circuit Court decision last week.

Riverkeeper thanks the DEC for taking such a bold step in the right direction and the grassroots activists for their tireless fight to stop the pipeline. Riverkeeper submitted a comment urging DEC to deny the water quality certification, joining the regional opposition to fracking infrastructure that threatens our waterways, our environment and our health.
