Kate Sinding Daly

Kate Sinding Daly is an environmental attorney, outdoorswoman, and clean water advocate. Her work as the former Senior Advisor to the President of the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) and Deputy Director of the NRDC’s New York Program involved helping to ban fracking in New York State and advance policies that require manufacturers to take responsibility for the end-of-life recycling of their products. She is a leader recognized for her skill in bringing together diverse interests and building cross-sector collaborations in support of common environmental interests.

Prior to joining NRDC in November 2006, Kate was a partner in the specialty environmental law firm of Sive, Paget & Riesel, P.C. In this capacity she represented both municipal decision makers and developers, and developed an expertise in environmental review for complex development proposals, as well as expertise in litigation and administrative proceedings. Specific projects she worked on at the firm included Brooklyn Bridge Park, Lower Manhattan Waterfront Redevelopment, and Yankee Stadium. She was a member of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s transition team and has taught Environmental Law at Columbia University Law School. Kate is a graduate of New York University Law School, the Woodrow Wilson School of International and Public Affairs at Princeton University, and Barnard College.

A practiced board director, Kate serves on the board of Mark Ruffalo’s Water Defense group, as well as on the board of directors of the Waterfront Alliance and that of the New York State Product Stewardship Council.
