Martin Hampel is a private investor, dedicated nature and wildlife photographer as well as fervent advocate for environmental protection. He has held several positions in the financial sector as a quantitative analyst, retiring after more than a decade at Standard & Poor's in New York, where he was a Senior Director and Global Head of Operations for the Quantitative Analytics Research group at S&P’s Ratings Services. Martin earned his doctorate in Elementary Particle Physics at the Technical University of Aachen, in Germany, and the German collider research center, DESY, in Hamburg, where he also held a post-doctoral position. He is Vice President and Treasurer of a private family foundation, which has been an enthusiastic supporter of Riverkeeper for many years.
