The New York Botanical Garden’s New York City EcoFlora is teaming up with NYC H2O to introduce nature lovers to Ridgewood Reservoir and the successful effort to have the site designated an official New York State wetland.

The tour will be led by Daniel Atha, botanist at the New York Botanical Garden and will focus on the porcelain berry, an invasive species found around the Ridgewood Reservoir.

The tour will explore the Ridgewood Reservoir, built in the 19th Century to supply Brooklyn’s fresh water before it became part of New York City. Along the way the group will document the flora and fauna, especially the destructive Porcelain-berry.

Meet in the parking lot at Vermont Place.
