Join Riverkeeper at the upcoming public meetings to speak up for the health of the Hudson River Estuary!
The Army Corps of Engineers New York District, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), and the City of New York (NYC) are hosting 8 public meetings for the New York and New Jersey Harbor & Tributaries Study (NYNJHATS).
In the New York and New Jersey Harbor & Tributaries Study (NYNJHATS), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is considering several options for coastal storm protections in our region, and some of these options would have catastrophic consequences for the Hudson and New York Harbor. Specifically, storm surge barriers – giant ocean gates – would choke off tidal flow and the migration of fish – damaging the life of the Hudson River Estuary forever.
Ahead of the meetings, get informed and take action on our storm surge barriers page.
