Riverkeeper will present information about our ongoing water quality monitoring program at the North Country Stormwater Conference.
The event is designed for professionals and community leaders working on managing stormwater.
In the Capital District, Riverkeeper’s data shows that the safe-swimming failure rate for water jumps from 20% in dry weather to 61% in wet weather, reflecting the region’s difficulties managing stormwater. Riverkeeper tests for Enterococcus, the EPA-recommended indicator of fecal contamination, and measures against the EPA’s recommended guidelines for managing swimming areas.
