Join Riverkeeper at the 11th annual Paddlefest, organized by the Mid Hudson Chapter of the Adirondack Club. It’s free and open to the public.

If you have a canoe, kayak or paddleboard, bring it. If you don’t, you’ll be able to try a range of gear. Either way, wear clothing and shoes that can get wet–synthetics, not cotton.

Riverkeeper will be leading two kayak tours of the Hudson River and Moodna Creek, at 10 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. These tours are open to any who bring their own boats. Sign up at the event.

The event includes many other kayak, canoe and paddleboard lessons and guided tours (including some available to those without their own boats); seining of the Hudson River to see first-hand what lives in the Hudson River; a kayak camping demonstration; as well as an outdoors equipment expo, including discounted used kayaks and other water and hiking gear from area retailers and wholesalers. Bring a picnic lunch, use an on-site grills to cook your own BBQ, or plan to purchase hamburgers, hotdogs and other items at the event. And be sure to enjoy one of the most dramatic views of the Hudson River fjord (where the river cuts through the Hudson Highlands), from 2,000 feet of sandy beach at Plum Point.

Some events require pre-registration. Check midhudsonadk.org/paddlefest for details and updates.
