Trees for Tributaries
Riverkeeper will be participating in NYSDEC’s ‘Trees for Tribs’ program this spring, to help stabilize a small stream brook that flows downstream of a partially collapsed dam about 50 meters into the woods in the Town of New Windsor bordering the City of Newburgh. These trees will also help absorb some water before the brook empties into the Quassaick Creek. Join Riverkeeper for a tree planting along Little Falls, adjacent to Quassaick Creek, from 10AM to 4PM. This is a rain or shine event.

Volunteers will meet at 199-101 Walsh Ave Newburgh, NY 12550 (Down the street from the Mullins Courtyard Apartments). PARKING IS LIMITED along the creek. We encourage car pooling and will direct parking when you arrive.

We recommend all volunteers to bring a hat, sunscreen, a full reusable water bottle, insect repellent, work gloves and hand sanitizer. Refreshments will be provided.

This site is suitable for children ages 10 and up.

*IMPORTANT! To ensure the safety of volunteers, Site Leaders, professional staff, and our communities, we ask that volunteers adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Volunteers are required to pre-register.
  • Volunteers should not participate if they have ANY signs of illness or if they have potentially been exposed to COVID-19.
