On Wednesday, Sept. 23, we were running north from Ossining to Kingston and met a family of Swans off Peekskill at Jones Point. I know these birds are controversial but just suspend that for a minute and look how magnificent they are. This family has clearly learned that boats often equal food so they came over as soon as we slowed and seemed totally unafraid. This year’s young (six) are not fully white yet. First approach. Checking out Dan Shapley. Beautiful. And unafraid. I hope no one betrays their trust.
