Millions of gallons of crude oil are being moved through the Hudson Valley by barge, ship and train. Riverkeeper has launched a campaign to protect the river and our communities from crude oil spills that have had a destructive impact along the route of this “virtual pipeline.”

We need your help to document oil trains moving through your community by taking photos (or videos). We want to make sure decision-makers understand that these trains pass close to schools, homes and business districts, as well as the irreplaceable habitats of the Hudson River and its tributaries.

Unfortunately, we aren’t aware of any publicly available schedules to predict when the trains pass. So we need many eyes open, and many cameras ready to take photos.

If you want to help, or have taken a picture or video of one of these trains, please contact Dan Shapley at [email protected].
